A New Life
by Paul Hazelden

Introduction

What does it mean to say that God gives us a new life when we turn to Him?

The prayer for our clients is to move from a place of need to a place of plenty, from being victims to being actors, to a place of responsibility. It doesn't matter how much you can do, but you have to do it, it doesn't matter what your problems and issues are, what does God want to do in you and through you anyway?

Yes, we approach God because we want His blessing, His help. But we need to move beyond that and seek Him because we want to be available to Him, to speak and to act for Him on His behalf, because through us He wants to reach out and touch other people. Despite our sins and weaknesses and failures.

You are not just a victim of your circumstances, of your past, of your parents and the friends who let you down and abused you. Whatever your past, you are here and now able to respond to God, to live for Him, you have the Holy Spirit living within you, you have all the resources of the Godhead at your disposal. You really have been given a new start, and a new life.
