Questions About Support for Homeless Pregnant Women
by Paul Hazelden

Questions: Index

Introduction

Street based sex workers are entitled to the same support from housing services as any other single person in Bristol. The service is not great, but it exists.

But as soon as they get pregnant, The Hub will not deal with them. Instead, they are referred to the Area Offices, and the Area Offices not not have the knowledge or experience to deal with them. So they fall through the gap.

In Theory

In theory, what should the system be for a homeless pregnant woman?

After all, the system should work whether you are a homeless pregnant estate agent, or a homeless pregnant sex worker.

In Practice

One way to access statutory help is through the Homeless Health Service. Jane Lomax will do her best to help.
