Paul & Sue Hazelden - Hazelden Family History -
This page is about Paul's side of the family.
Paul has one brother, Roger Philip. His parents are
Geoff Hazelden and Joan (neé Chapman).
Geoff Hazelden has one sister, Joan. She married and
divorced James Bargiggia, then fostered a girl and changed her
own name to Joan
Stanton. Joan had two children by James: Peter and
Mark. Peter is married to Christine and has several
children; Mark is married also, and has Imogen and, we believe,
another daughter.
Geoff's parents were Percy Hazelden and Louise (neé Funnell).
They lived in Brighton. We think it was Percy's
parents who owned the 'Hazelden Nursery' that used to sell
plants on the main road into Brighton from London for many
years. The main road is now moved, and the nursery
is closed.
We think Louise Funnell had two sisters: Ellen and
Anne. Anne married a Canadian and went to live in
Canada at the end of World War II. Ellen married Jack
Hope and had Jaqueline and Doreen.
Joan's parents were William Chapman and Ellen Fanny (neé
Danby). Ellen's father was John Danby, and her
mother was Hepzibah May (neé Haine).
William Chapman had several brothers: Walter, Alec and Samuel,
plus others (perhaps four) we believe who were killed in World
War I. They all grew up in Dunmow, Essex.
Samuel married late in life, and turned up to
Walter's funeral with a wife nobody had met before.
Walter had three children: John (called 'Jack'), Ron and Joyce
Mary.
Jack Chapman (the eldest of the three) married
Margaret. They had two children: Susan and
David. Susan
is living in Bebbington and has two children: Sarah and
Christopher.
Ron Chapman married Pat. Ron and Pat have
two children: Peter and Jennifer. Peter Chapman is
living in Sutton Coldfield.
Joyce Mary Chapman married Ronald Stark (not to be confused
with her brother Ron!) and had three children: Wendy, Christine
and Roger. Wendy is married to Andrew Stuttle; they
have two children: Mark and Christopher. Christine
is married to Keith Louden; they have Jamie and
katie. Roger is married to Joanne; they have three
children: Elizabeth, Georgina and another.
Ellen Danby had two brothers and two sisters: Albert, Henry,
Emily and Alice. they were all born in Plumstead,
South East London.
Albert Danby married and had two
children, a boy and a girl.
Henry Danby married Millicent,
and they had Patrick, James and Millicent. Patrick
became a Catholic Priest; James did not marry and Millicent
married and went to live in Canada.
Emily Danby married Tom and had Dorris, Winifred, Helen ('Nell')
and William. Dorris married Ralph Warren and had
David and Richard. Winn married a Mr. McGrath
('Mac') and had Peter, Patricia, Brian and Douglas.
Nell married Cornelius Anderson ('Con') and had Pauline and
Christine. William ('Bill') married Grace and
adopted a Michael. Dorris died, and Ralph married
again, this time to a German girl.
Alice Danby married George Beaumont and they had one son,
Victor George. Victor married Brenda Butler,
emigrated to New Zealand, and they have Andrew, Catrina and
Deborah. Deborah is married with two girls.
